Join the Vilna over coffee and babka for an interactive discussion on sleeping and aging with Erica R. Appleman, Ph.D., of the Boston University Alzheimer’s Disease Center. How does sleep change as we get older? How much sleep do people really need? How does sleep impact memory? This conversation will answer these questions and more while exploring the relationship between sleep, aging, and cognition.

Dr. Appleman is currently recently completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2019 at Boston University. She completed her clinical internship at the Boston VA Medical Center with a specialization in neuropsychology and is currently a 2nd year neuropsychology post-doctoral fellow at the Bedford VA Medical Center. Dr. Appleman's graduate research focused on the early identification of Parkinson's disease through work with the multi-generational Framingham Heart Study. She has also been involved in several research projects investigating sleep, including changing school start times and sleep-tracking smartphone applications. In addition to conducting cognitive assessments with veterans, she continues to research successful cognitive aging, with a focus on the role of technology in dementia care. Dr. Appleman previously served as a student board member for the Massachusetts Neuropsychological Society.

Registration appreciated.
