Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM), established in 2006, is a time to honor the rich history, culture, and achievements of Jewish Americans throughout the United States. This inaugural celebration at Boston City Hall not only marks a first for the city but also coincides with a powerful historical moment: the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill, an event in which members of the Jewish community played a meaningful role.

The celebration, held on Boston City Hall Plaza, will be a vibrant and uplifting gathering open to the public. Highlights include:

  • Live music from the renowned Ezekiel’s Wheels Klezmer Band, offering an energetic and soulful taste of Jewish music.
  • Delicious offerings from Bakey, a beloved Israeli bakery that reflects the flavor and diversity of Boston’s culinary scene, representing the tremendous influx of Israeli restaurants in Boston of the past 10 years.
  • Words of welcome and community from city officials.

This celebration comes at a time when rising antisemitism underscores the urgent need for greater education, visibility, and solidarity. The event is a chance for all Bostonians to come together in unity and appreciation of the deep Jewish roots that are woven into the fabric of the city’s and the nation’s story.

Leading up this moment on May 20th, City Hall will be illuminated in blue in honor of Jewish American Heritage Month.

Admission is free, and all are welcome.

The Vilna Shul is proud to sponsor with the City of Boston on this exciting celebration.
