Rabbi Ben Lanckton is a native of Newton, Massachusetts, and has lived in Brookline for over two decades. After majoring in theater and philosophy at Yale, he was ordained as a Conservative rabbi in 1996. He worked for two Jewish Community Centers and two Hillels, and joined Mass General as a Jewish chaplain nineteen years ago. He is married with two adult children. He enjoys listening to the Beatles, watching Star Wars movies, and is a devoted and avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Deborah Melkin has been involved with the Vilna Shul since 2006 as a soloist for High Holiday Services and then expanding her involvement through Havurah on the Hill's Leadership Council. Deborah attended Brandeis University where she was one of the original members of Manginah, a Jewish a cappella group. Deborah's singing career includes performing with Il Concerto di Salamone Rossi Hebreo, a group performing Friday night Shabbat services using the music of Salamone Rossi and singing with the Zamir Chorale of Boston since 1998. Deborah lives in Arlington with her fiance and newly adopted dog and spends her days working with data and databases at a financial tech company.
Mark Sokoll is a lifelong Jewish community advocate, activist and educator. He became President and CEO of JCC Greater Boston in 2000. Prior to his tenure at the JCC, Mark was a Senior Educator at Alexander Muss High School in Israel and also worked as a licensed tour guide. During his service in the Israel Defense Forces, he served as an educator at the IDF Institute for Officer Training and Education.
Mark is a past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Lenny Zakim Fund, a nonprofit foundation that funds Greater Boston grassroots organizations involved in building a better society for all. He has been honored by Mayyim Hayyim and is a past recipient of the Myrtle Wreath Award from Hadassah, the Lester Gilson Award from the Solomon Schechter Day School and the Bernard Reisman Award from the Hornstein Program at Brandeis University.
Evan Haller, founder of Music at The Blissful, makes engaging music for children and families to move and learn to. Evan has been a children's musician and song leader for 20 years. His music can be found on all streaming platforms and his videos can be seen on Youtube. For Evan, the most important part of his work is giving to others and creating community where people can gather, grow, and enjoy music together.
