Our speaker this month is Dan Allen, who, in honor of Passover, will speak about his family’s ancient roots in Egypt, the Karaite Community to which they belong, and their expulsion from Egypt in the early 60’s. Many Jews have never heard of the Karaites, a branch of Judaism that only practices Biblical law (as opposed to Talmudic law). Dan will provide insight on the Karaite traditions and practices and the next generation of Karaite Jews living in the US and Israel today.
