Winner of Best Non-Fiction Series at the 2022 Israel Academy Competition, The Food Ambassadors/Anachnu al HaMapit, now in its fourth season, follows host chef Barak Yehezkeli as he travels around the world following successful Israeli chefs and researches Israeli cuisine in all its aspects.
Follow Barak as he examines the dialogue in Israel through food in Arabeska: Where Food and Love Meet (Season 4, Episode 3 of The Food Ambassadors/Anachnu al HaMapit). Following this screening, there will be a conversation between Nir Caspi, Co-Founder and CEO at Cafe Landwer and Amir Tadmor, Head of Cultural Affairs, Consulate General of Israel to New England.
Episode Synopsis
For Akram Abed and his life partner Idan Madev, food is giving and food is love. The same sex couple realize their dream, transforming the Talpiot section of Haifa with their popular restaurants Arabeska and Cascade. Akram and his mother Amal cook Arabic dishes. Idan does the design and social media. The restaurants offer reasonably priced gourmet food and hire people who have overcome some of the hardships Akram and Idan faced, making the neighborhood more welcoming for LGBTQ and all communities. Hosted by chef Barak Yehezkeli, this popular Israeli TV episode features sumptuous food, and showcases the astonishing transformation of a neighborhood.

Nir Caspi is the Co-Founder of Café Landwer, an Israeli chain of gourmet casual dining cafes. Caspi, a former Israeli Navy SEAL, planned and led over ten special operations during his army service, and represented the Israeli SEALs in a joint training program with their US counterparts. Nir recently relocated to Boston with his wife and three young children in order to expand Café Landwer’s operations into North America. Their first café in North America opened in Toronto February 2017.

Amir Tadmor has been serving as Head of Cultural Affairs at the Consulate General of Israel to New England since 2020. Prior to this, he worked for 10 years in some of Israel's top media platforms, including Ha’aretz Group and Channel 10. Born and raised in a kibbutz in northern Israel, he now lives in Boston with his husband Ido.
