Join the Vilna over coffee and babka for a discussion with Dr. Anyah Prasad on recognizing anxiety. Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems among older adults but it is often underdiagnosed and under treated. In our study we are using Massachusetts Healthy Aging Data Reports to better understand the neighborhood levels factors that may either contribute to prevalence of anxiety among older adults or act as protective factors. Learning about the environmental levels factors associated with anxiety will help in improving public health interventions to address anxiety among older adults in our communities.
Anyah Prasad is trained as a physician in India. She has a master’s in Gerontology from Leiden University in the Netherlands and is currently a doctoral student and research assistant in the Department of Gerontology, University of Massachusetts Boston. Her developing area of research interests are health and wellbeing of LGBTQ older adults. She worked as a general physician at Yashoda Hospitals and as a medical educator at Medical Education and Research Center, Hyderabad, India before moving to Boston.
