Join us at our Museum Nights on Beacon Hill for Young Professionals. On the last Thursday in February and March, we will meet on our outdoor patio to enjoy some hot drinks and snacks and have the opportunity to connect with old and new friends. We will then bundle up and head over to a neighboring museum for a private tour.
On February 24th we will explore the Boston Athenaeum. Founded in 1807, the Boston Athenæum is one of the most distinguished independent libraries and cultural institutions in the United States. For nearly half a century the Athenæum was the unchallenged center of intellectual life in Boston, and by 1851, had become one of the largest libraries in the United States. Can you guess which former U.S president has the largest private collection at the Boston Athenaeum?
On March 24th we will visit the Nichols House. In 1885, Dr. Arthur Nichols and his wife Elizabeth purchased a Beacon Hill townhouse where their three daughters matured into designers, writers, and social activists. In 1930, Rose Standish Nichols inherited the property. She laid the plans for its establishment as a museum and soon after her death in 1960, the Nichols House Museum opened to the public.
All are welcome!
