In the Aftermath Icon

Our remembrance series continues with new work from renowned Boston artist Caron Tabb. Caron landed in Israel on October 6, waking up the next morning to the horrors of October 7.  Her series “In the Aftermath” is a multimedia exhibit, including a special Sukkah installation.

The gallery opening will include a conversation with musician Yuval Gur and author Joanna Rakoff (My Salinger Year), exploring the impact of October 7 and its aftermath on local artists and their work.

A reception precedes the program. Dessert and the opportunity to view the exhibit and meet the artists will follow.

Meet the Artists

Caron Tabb

Caron Tabb was born in apartheid South Africa, raised on a farm in Israel from the age of eight, and has lived in the U.S. for the last twenty years. These key biographical elements and her passion for social justice issues deeply impact her artistic practice. In addition to traditional painting and photography, Caron incorporates many found objects and unconventional materials into her work. Her conceptual mixed-media and instillation art address issues of social inequality, racial justice, and feminism as seen through the lens of her deep Jewish identity.

Joanna

Joanna Rakoff is the author of the international bestselling memoir My Salinger Year and the bestselling novel A Fortunate Age, winner of the Goldberg Prize for Fiction and the Elle Readers’ Prize. She has been the recipient of fellowships and residencies from MacDowell, Sewanee, Bread Loaf, Jerome Foundation, Authors’ Guild, PEN, Ragdale Foundation, Art OMI/Ledig House, and Saltonstall; and has taught at Columbia University, Brooklyn College, and Aspen Words.
