About your Docent:

Susan Steinhardt is the child of three survivors, each with a very different story. Susan's father left his native Germany on the kinder transport with a first cousin. Susan’s mother, from Hungary,  was deported from a ghetto in May 1944 and sent to Auschwitz followed by a sub-camp of Dachau and then Bergen-Belsen. Susan’s stepfather and his eldest brother escaped to Russia where they starved, fought and miraculously survived. Susan retired in December 2021 and moved to Millis, MA to be near her children. Before her retirement, Susan worked for 25 years as the Director of Compliance for a large Long Island, NY nonprofit that serves individuals with special needs through housing, case management and financial assistance. Susan is an avid reader of Holocaust literature, was trained as an interviewer for the Steven Spielberg Visual History Foundation, participated in March of the Living and most recently attended a three-day seminar on topics relating to second generation in the Holocaust Museum in NYC .
