Join HOH at the Museum of African American History for an wonderful, lay-led Kabbalat Shabbat service. Rabbi Becky Silverstein, the first genderqueer, trans rabbi, talks about his journey and passions in building Jewish communities (and a world) that invite, allow, and encourage people to bring all of their identities into them.

Rabbi Becky Silverstein believes in the power of community, Torah, and silliness in transforming the world.  He strives to build a Jewish community and world that encourages and allows everyone to express their full selves.  Becky currently serves as the Rabbi-in-Residence for Keshet Shabbatonim, and Program Manager / Co-teacher at the Boston Teen Beit Midrash. Becky is the chair of the boards of The Jewish Studio Project and SVARA: A traditionally radical yeshiva, and sits on the board of Keshet. You can find him speaking and teaching Torah to the world we live in throughout the Greater Boston Area. Becky grew up in New York, holds a B.S. in Engineering from Smith College and Rabbinic Ordination from the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College.  Becky is a lifelong NY Mets fan, has no problem rooting for the Red Sox (unless they are playing the Mets), and resides in Jamaica Plain, with his spouse, Naomi.

The schedule is as follows:

6:30 PM – Appetizers and Schmoozing
7:00 PM – Shabbat Services
8:15 PM – Featured Speaker
8:45 PM – Shabbat Dinner and Schmoozing

This event is in partnership with Keshet and Netivot.

Havurah on the Hill is a gathering of Jews in their 20's and 30's for monthly nondenominational, egalitarian Shabbat services, with featured speakers and other special holiday celebrations.

Vilna and Havurah on the Hill will never turn anyone away for inability to pay. If you would like to attend but finances are of concern, please email Director of Communications and Community Outreach Lynne Krasker Schultz at lynne@vilnashul.org.

The Vilna Shul offers free parking with validation for Havurah on the Hill Friday night services.
