Introducing our Collegiate A Cappella Groups
Berkalit is Berklee College of Music's first Jewish a cappella group. We aim to bridge the gap between Jewish music and high-level contemporary collegiate a cappella, build Jewish community on campus that is inclusive of all students, and use our voices to spiritually uplift those in Greater Boston and beyond.
Manginah is Brandeis University's Premier, Jewish A Cappella group. Manginah sings a variety of music, ranging from classic Hebrew liturgical songs to Israeli and English pop music.
Brought together by a love of music and a passion for Jewish culture, the Alef Beats of Brown/RISD have been singing up and down the East Coast since their inception in 2005. The Beats sing in all styles and formats and hail from all over. Their all-gender membership roster includes those from as far afield as Southeast Asia, and as close to home as the Providence suburbs. Concentrations within the group vary as well, ranging from Computer Science to Classics. Through it all, though, the Beats remain united with a common friendship and a healthy appreciation for Jewish values and tradition.
Shir Appeal is an award-winning mixed-gender Jewish a cappella group from Tufts University. They have traveled from coast to coast, singing in a wide variety of languages and musical styles: Hebrew pop and rock, traditional and liturgical songs, Jewish world music, and English songs with Jewish themes. Shir Appeal is proud to be the first non-secular and only Jewish group featured on the prestigious Voices Only and Best of Collegiate A Cappella (BOCA) compilation albums, and to be featured on every Best of Jewish A Cappella (BOJAC) album to date.
