We are pleased to welcome former Israeli Consul General to New England and current Israel Director for J Street, Nadav Tamir, just days before the Israeli elections in early November. Tamir will address a wide range of topics, including an analysis of the upcoming Israeli elections; an exploration of what Israelis and American Jews do and don't understand about each other; and thoughts on how the American Jewish community can support Israel to be the best version of itself.
This event will be in person and live-streamed.
Nadav Tamir has dedicated his career to public service, joining the Israeli Foreign Ministry in 1993 and serving in multiple roles, including Political Officer at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC and, from 2006-2010, the Israeli Consul General to New England. Upon returning to Israel, he joined the Policy Planning Unit of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, where he served until accepting the position of senior adviser to the president under Shimon Peres. Currently, in addition to his role as Executive Director of J Street in Israel, Nadav is an adviser for international affairs at the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation; a member of the board of the Mitvim think tank; and serves on the steering committee of the Geneva Initiative. While Nadav counts Boston as his second home after living here for years as Consul General and previously as a Wexner Fellow in the Masters Program at the Harvard Kennedy School; he currently lives in Givatayim, Israel with his spouse, Dr. Ronit Tamir and their three children.
J Street organizes pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans to promote US policies that embody deeply held Jewish and democratic values and that help secure the State of Israel as a democratic homeland for the Jewish people. J Street believes that only a negotiated resolution agreed to by Israelis and Palestinians can meet the legitimate needs and national aspirations of both peoples.
