This is a young adult program designed for people in their 20's and 30's. If you are not in the age demographic, we kindly request that you check out our other program offerings!
Welcome Shabbat with Havurah on the Hill and laugh Comedian Noam Shuster-Eliassi, New Jewish Comedian of the Year! Noam will talk about her rise to fame through comedy and how she sees her role as a comedian in Israel-Palestinian relations today.
The schedule is as follows:
6:30 PM – Appetizers and Schmoozing
7:00 PM – Shabbat Services
8:15 PM – Featured Speaker and Shabbat Dinner
Noam Shuster-Eliassi ’11 was a rising star among Israeli-Palestinian peace activists. She met with hard-line settlers who live in the territory that Palestinians claim for a future state. She spoke at conferences around the world, exhorting her generation of Israelis to chart a more progressive course. She considered entering diplomacy or politics. Then, in 2017, her career took an abrupt turn: She started telling jokes.
Havurah on the Hill gathers people in their 20's and 30's for a variety of programming designed specifically for young adults. The Nosh series are gastro-centric programs that embrace Jewish culture through food. Cook, eat, and learn! Schmooze and Jews convenes a group of Jewish young adults and their friends to participate in activities throughout the city, from films to bar nights to community service. The monthly non-denominational, egalitarian, lay-led Shabbat services take place on the third Friday of every month.
Vilna and Havurah on the Hill will never turn anyone away for inability to pay. If you would like to attend but finances are of concern, please email Director of Communications and Community Outreach Lynne Krasker Schultz at lynne@vilnashul.org.
