Our goal should be to live life in radical amazement. ....get up in the morning and look at the world in a way that takes nothing for granted. Everything is phenomenal; everything is incredible; never treat life casually. To be spiritual is to be amazed. - Abraham Joshua Heschel
Join Rebecca from Birdie's Blooms, a sustainable floral design business in the North Shore, for a virtual floral arranging workshop. This workshop is designed for people of any skill level to create a locally-sourced flower arrangement to beautify their Shabbat tables and homes.
During the Havdalah ritual, we say hamavdil bein kodesh l'chol or, in English, to distinguish the holy from the mundane. How each of us achieves this is a personal choice: spending time outdoors, cooking a beautiful meal, tuning in to our families without the use of electronics, or crafting a beautiful floral arrangement. Right now, in the midst of a global pandemic, days are indistinguishable and finding a meaningful way to elevate Shabbat and Rosh Hashanah is especially restorative.
Details:
- Your registration fee includes locally sourced flowers, a matching vase, and the workshop.
- You'll need to fill the vase with water, have a pair of scissors or pruning shears handy, a screen at the ready, and a beginner's mind
If you are interested in participating, please contact lynne@vilnashul.org to see if we can get you supplies before the workshop! We are making deliveries on Wednesday, Sept 16 to limited communities. If you are willing to pickup at the Vilna or at Birdie's Blooms in Swampscott, we can absolutely accomodate your request!
