Please join Vilna board member Dan Dain as he discusses his new book, A History of Boston (coming to bookstores on September 19).
We'll learn about the history of immigration to Boston's West End and how organizations like The Vilna Shul played an active role in the life of what was the city's most diverse neighborhood.
We'll also consider Boston's recent three-decade roll, where cranes cloud the skyline, venture capital is flowing and Boston’s hospitals, life science companies, and universities lead the world.
Yet, the city is confronted today with the simultaneous housing, transportation, climate change, health, and equity crises and Covid has emptied out the downtown. Are we at a pivot point in the city’s history?
Dan will talk about this history, answer questions, and sign books. Join us for bagels, coffee, and a fresh look at our hometown.
Booksales of A History of Boston available onsite & through Trident Booksellers.
This program is generously co-sponsored by The Grossman Companies.
