Coming of Age in America: Two Boston writers, members of the same longstanding writing group, discuss the common coming-of-age theme of their debut novels and their journey to publication. Featuring Karen Winn and Betty Yee. 

Join us at 6:30pm for a welcome reception on our patio plaza followed by a lively hour-long discussion at 7pm.

Karen Winn is proud to serve as a board member of the Vilna Shul alongside her husband, whose great-grandparents were founding members.  Karen received her MFA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and also holds a doctoral degree in nursing.  Born and raised in New Jersey, she now lives in Boston with her husband and two children. Our Little World is her debut novel.

Betty G. Yee was born and raised in Massachusetts. She spent much of her early life reimagining her favorite stories or writing sequels to them. Betty has been an elementary school teacher for over twenty years. When she’s not teaching or writing, she enjoys traveling, bike riding, eating french fries and immersing herself in the words and worlds of other writers. She lives with her two bossy cats, Zara and Piper. Her stories can be found in The Drum Literary Magazine, Hunger Mountain, Frost Fire Worlds, and RAZ Kids. She is the recipient of SCBWIs 2011 Multi-Cultural Works-In-Progress Grant. Gold Mountain is her first novel.
