This program is now sold out.

Few artists have captured the humor, heartbreak, anxiety, and absurdity of modern life quite like Roz Chast. A legendary New Yorker cartoonist, Chast has helped define a visual language that feels unmistakably New York - and unmistakably Jewish - while speaking to anyone who has ever worried, wondered, or laughed at themselves.

This March, The Vilna welcomes Roz Chast for an evening of comedy, cartoons, and conversation. Chast will reflect on her work, her creative process, and the cultural currents that shape her unmistakable style. Expect laughter, insight, and a chance to engage directly with one of the most influential cartoonists of our time. Chast will also join in a special Q&A led by Lily Rabinoff-Goldman, President of JCC Greater Boston.

Whether you're a devoted New Yorker reader, a lover of Jewish culture, a fan of sharp humor, or simply curious, this is an evening meant to be shared - across generations, backgrounds, and experiences.

Doors open: 6:30 PM

Roz Chast

Since joining The New Yorker in 1978, Roz Chast has established herself as one of our greatest artistic chroniclers of the anxieties, superstitions, furies, insecurities, and surreal imaginings of modern life. Her works are typically populated by hapless but relatively cheerful “everyfolk,” and she addresses the universal topics of guilt, aging, families, money, real estate, and, as she would say, “much, much more!” David Remnick, the editor of The New Yorker, has called her “the magazine’s only certifiable genius.”

Roz Chast grew up in Brooklyn, NY and received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of
Design with studies in graphic design and painting, though she soon after returned to her love of cartooning. Fewer than two years out of college, at age 24, The New Yorker magazine added her to their roster of approximately forty artists under contract, and the publication has published her work continuously ever since.
