Founded in 2020 by CJP and JArts, now part of The Vilna, we are proud to launch the 6th cohort of the Community Creative Fellowship. This fellowship is designed to support Boston-area creatives who are looking to explore Jewish identity through arts and/or culture, to develop their own artistic process and to evolve their community engagement practice. Four artists will be selected to develop and create new artistic work that provides diverse access points to Jewish learning and connection.

We invite creatives in all artistic media - visual artists, performers, writers, chefs, coders, podcasters, and others – to apply.

Fellowship Details

We seek to:

  • support the creation of new work that reflects the artists' own Jewish exploration
  • create community-wide dialogue by engaging diverse communities in this work and each artist’s creative process
  • develop creatives' capacity for community engagement and Jewish literacy

Dates

  • Applications due: Tuesday, September 9, 2025 by 11:59pm
  • Fellowship begins: Monday, October 6, 2025
  • Fellowship concludes: June 30, 2026

Compensation

The fellowship stipend is $12,000 to be paid over the course of the 8 month fellowship.

This compensation includes costs of time and materials.

In addition to stipend, artists will have access to space in The Vilna and support of the Vilna/CJP staff.

Expectations

Fellows will develop their own body of work while developing their community engagement process by facilitating 8-10 workshops throughout the fellowship. Ranging from families to young professionals to seniors, artists will have an opportunity to connect with an array of audiences who are most relevant to their work.

Fellows will each develop a capstone piece informed by their experience over the course of the fellowship as well as a final presentation of their complete body of work at our Fellowship showcase event in June 2026.

Selected artists must:

  • have a significant artistic portfolio
  • live in the Greater Boston Area
  • have prior community engagement experience (i.e; residency, fellowship, workshops, educational role)

This Fellowship seeks to spotlight diverse experiences. We encourage applications from individuals of all Jewish backgrounds. CJP grant recipients ARE eligible to apply.
