Get your Jewish New Year off to a fun start and join us as we build two newly redesigned sukkot on Vilna Shul's newly renovated front patio as part of the annual Jewish celebration of the fall harvest. Fun, new things in an old, sacred space- that's how we do things.

The fun starts at 2:00pm when we raise the supports, hoist up the walls, and string up the symbols of the season to get the Vilna ready for many events during the week of Sukkot including our Shabbat in the Sukkah on Friday, October 2 (https://www.facebook.com/events/619032671567807/).

Music, food, drink, power tools-- everything you need to raise a four-walled, open-aired tent in the city.

See you there!!

More about sukkot and Sukkot!
A "sukkah" (plural: sukkot) is the name of the tempo...rary open-aired, thatch-roofed hut that is built for the observance of the week-long festival of Sukkot. The holiday commemorates the experience of the Israelites wandering in the wilderness after being freed from slavery in Egypt. Traditionally Jews eat, sleep, and generally live in the sukkah for the duration of the holiday.

Havurah on the Hill is a non-denominational, egalitarian minyan for Jews in their 20s and 30s in the Boston area. HOH meets at the Vilna Shul in Beacon Hill, one of the last remaining synagogues from the early 20th century wave of Jewish immigration and hosts monthly Kabbalat Shabbat services as well as other special holiday celebrations throughout the year
