From Broken Pieces to a New Life - Building a Mosaic Together in the Community Room

In the Community Room of the Vilna, the once colorful 20th century folk art images are crumbling. We are bringing this mural back to life by recreating it in the form of a mosaic that represents the original, but with a contemporary flair. By building this mosaic together as a community project, we will be honoring the spirit of the mural itself, while re-envisioning it for the Beacon Hill community of the 21st century.

Please join us on  November 1st and November 8th from 1 to 4 pm to help bring this American mural back to life, connecting the past and present to build the future. Enjoy docent-lead tours, snacks donated by Whole Foods Charles River Plaza, and place shards and ceramic pieces in our community mosaic under the guidance of Bette Ann Libby, a well-known llocal mosaic artist as we beautify a crumbling fresco that can’t be replaced. People of all ages are invited, children 5 and up are welcome to work with the tile and literally build a piece of the Vilna’s future! Stay for as little or as long as you like.

Open and free for all. For sign ups, please click either (or both!) of the hyperlinked dates below in order to email your registration.  For more information, call at 617-523-2324.
